Financing Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging: Show Me the Money

The application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the realm of medical imaging has moved beyond the speculative stage and is becoming increasingly embraced by mainstream radiology. Questions now regard how —not if—it will impact clinical practice. Early adoption of AI will probably begin with tasks that are seen as routine or mundane and those that do not present a threat of legal risk or physician disruption. These tasks will likely involve the areas of billing, scheduling, and order appropriaten ess.
