333: Maternal serum lipid parameters and oxytocin requirements at delivery

Pregnancy is associated with a progressive increase in maternal serum total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and triglycerides (TG). In vitro studies have implicated that increased cholesterol decreases myometrial contractility and blunts the response to oxytocin (OT). However, clinical implications of dyslipidemia are unknown. Here, our objective was to investigate the relationship between maternal serum lipid parameters and OT requirements among women with term vaginal deliveries.
