Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell–driven Induction of Treg Is Strain Specific and Correlates With Spontaneous Acceptance of Kidney Allografts

Conclusions. These data suggest that pDC-induced regulatory T cells are dependent on downstream signaling effects and on strain-dependent, MHC class II disparity with naive T cells, which may explain organ- and strain-specific differences in spontaneous tolerance.

Conclusion: LVMI reversed and MAP and renal function were normalized early after transplantation of a healthy kidney. However, LV fibrosis persisted, dissociating LV hypertrophy from LV fibrosis within 6 weeks. Elucidating cardiac ECM dynamics in CKD patients, although challenging, appears promising.

We describe a ca se series in which 2 patients received kidney transplants while on veno‐arterial ECMO support for PGD after heart transplant. Both patients are alive more than 1 year following transplant, with good cardiac and renal function and no signs of cardiac rejection. Kidney transplant surgery is safe for patients on veno‐arterial ECMO support for cardiac PGD. It allows the heart recipient to receive a kidney from the same donor with both immunologic and survival advantages.

CONCLUSIONS: GP after SOT is associated with a high risk of PTLD, allograft loss and poor survival. The combination of SPE, SIFE, SFLC and UIFE is optimal for GP detection. Antibody-mediated rejection continues to hinder long-term survival of solid organ allografts. Natural antibodies (Nabs) with polyreactive and autoreactive properties have recently emerged as potential contributors to antibody-mediated graft rejection. This review discusses Nabs, their functions in health and disease, their significance in rejection following kidney, heart, and lung transplantation, and their implication in serum reactivity to key antigens associated with rejection. Finally, potential effector mechanisms of Nabs in the context of transplantation are explored.
