Limited Conclusions Can Be Reached From Danish Randomized Clinical Trial of Supported Employment

To the Editor We would like to point out several limitations of the study by Christensen et al comparing the effects of the individual placement and support (IPS) model of supported employment with IPS enhanced by cognitive remediation and social skills training (IPSE) and service as usual on work in persons with severe mental illness that preclude drawing firm conclusions about the potential benefits of augmenting IPS with cognitive remediation. Three sets of findings suggest problems implementing the IPS program.
