A simple technique for placement of Seprafilm ® − a sodium hyaluronate/carboxymethylcellulose absorbable barrier − during laparoscopic myomectomy

This reports describes a simple technique, using conventional instrumentation, for placement of Seprafilm ® − a sodium hyaluronate/carboxymethylcellulose absorbable barrier in adhesion prevention. Three hundred seventy-eight women with uterine fibroids undergoing laparoscopic myomectomy (LM) had 737 Seprafilm® pieces placed. The Seprafilm® sheet was softened through exposure to room air for 5 m in, cut into four pieces (length: 5−10 mm), rolled-up alongside a plastic sheet cut from a camera drape cover, and gently placed at the right paracolic gutter.
