Everyday sunscreen use may compromise vitamin D in temperate climes: reply from authors. Br J Dermatol. 2019 Dec 20;: Authors: Young AR, Passeron T Abstract de Gruijl and colleagues make an excellent point1 and we thank them for their interest in our paper.2 Summaries are restricted by word limits and we accept that judgement on sunscreen use is necessary, depending on the local ultraviolet index (UVI) and sun exposure behaviour. UVI, and solar UVB radiation (~295-315nm) necessary for vitamin D synthesis, decrease with increasing latitude. PMID: 31858587 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
