In this multicenter, single-blind, randomized trial, Andrade et  al (Circulation 2019;140:1779, PMID 31630538) sought to assess the efficacy of pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) via contact force radiofrequency (CF RF) vs second generation cryoballoon using 2 different strategies—2-minute and 4-minute ablation durations—in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibri llation (AF). All patients failed class I or III antiarrhythmic drugs and were randomized in a 1:1:1 fashion to CF RF (n = 115), 2-minute cryoballoon (Cryo-2; n = 117), or 4-minute cryoballoon (Cryo-4; n = 115) ablation.
