33 Interstitial high dose rate brachytherapy : Commissioning and first clinical results

Introduction. At Institut de Canc érologie de l’Ouest, ear, nose and throat (ENT) tumors used to be treated by brachytherapy with 192Ir wires. Since the wire production has been stopped, 192Ir source with High Dose Rate (HDR) afterloader method has replaced the use of wires. Its implementation is evaluated by the measurement of t he first dwell position of the new applicator and dosimetric comparison between the previous and new methods.
