These conditions include Alzheimer's-like dementia, aggression, memory loss, depression, and symptoms similar to those of other neurological diseases. Research funded through the FY13 Quality of Life Research Award (QUAL) Program Announcement/Funding Opportunity is intended to develop best practices for in-patient and out-patient care of TBI and/or Alzheimer's Disease. Applications must include a multi-institutional team of up to 5 partners to: 1) assess the standards of care for their patients across the partners; 2) develop and measure best practices that would reduce the burden on the caregiver and patient; and 3) have a dissemination plan by which the best practices can become the elements of a new standard of care across the partners.
