Esophageal reconstruction using a pedicled jejunum following esophagectomy for metastatic esophageal stricture from breast cancer in a patient with previous pancreatoduodenectomy.

Esophageal reconstruction using a pedicled jejunum following esophagectomy for metastatic esophageal stricture from breast cancer in a patient with previous pancreatoduodenectomy. Nagoya J Med Sci. 2019 Nov;81(4):679-685 Authors: Asai S, Fukaya M, Fujieda H, Igami T, Tsunoda N, Sakatoku Y, Kamei Y, Miyata K, Nagino M Abstract A 71-year-old woman with dysphagia was diagnosed with thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma by endoscopic biopsy at another hospital. She had previously undergone partial breast excision with axillary lymph node dissection for right breast cancer eleven years earlier and subtotal stomach-preserving pancreatoduodenectomy with Child's reconstruction for ampullary cancer ten years earlier. Gastrointestinal endoscopy showed a stricture due to a bulging submucosal tumor in the mid-thoracic esophagus. The tumor was diagnosed as an esophageal metastasis from breast cancer by endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy. After six courses of fulvestrant, the tumor progressed, completely impeding her ability to swallow. An esophagectomy was planned in a one-stage operation because of the expectation of a prolonged survival and her strong hope of regaining oral intake. Unfortunately, she underwent emergent omental patch repair for perforation of the gastrojejunostomy site due to an anastomotic ulcer one day before the scheduled operation. Due to postoperative impairment of her performance status, she subsequently underwent ...

DaherAbstractThe dinuclear complex Bis[(µ2-azido)-chloro-(1,10-phenanthroline)-copper(II)] (1) was synthesized, and characterized by X-ray. Complex (1) crystallizes in the monoclinic system, it consists of centrosymmetric [CuCl(phen)N3]2 dimers bridged by azide groups. The phenanthroline ligand, chloride ion, and ƞ-N of equatorial bridging azide ligand are coplanar...

In this study, two novel benzimidazolium salts consisting propane sulfonate order were integrated in high yields as N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) precursors. The silver-NHC buildings were set up by responding 1-(2,2-dimethoxyethyl)- 3-(propyl-3-sulfonate)benzimidazolium and 1-(2,2-diethoxyethyl)- 3-(propyl-3-sulfonate)benzimidazolium with silver oxide on average state. Gold-NHC edifices were acquired by means of transmetallation of their silver precursors with [AuCl{S(CH3)2}]. The structures of all mixes were completely portrayed by spectroscopic techniques (1H-NMR, 13C{1H} NMR , IR and elemental and further analyzed by DFT/...

Narayana MurthyAbstractIntroductionGlobally, cervical cancer is the 4th most common cancer and is one of the leading cancers causing death in India. Cervical cancer is one of those cancers which can be easily prevented by screening women who are aged above 30 years and by vaccinating young girls against HPV. Lack of awareness about cervical cancer makes early detection and timely screening difficult. Awareness about cervical cancer among people will help us to decide on an appropria...

ConclusionsOur findings support measurement invariance of the EORTC QLQ-C30 in a large sample of patients with hematological malignancies. The results showed that the number of non-invariant items was negligible, suggesting that this questionnaire is a valid and robust measurement tool in patients with hematological malignancies, also for comparisons across groups and time.

ConclusionsCaffeine was a marker for increased intake of calories and decreased intake of key nutrients. When discussing dietary intake in early childhood, practitioners should screen for nutrient deficiency in young children and recommend limiting the intake of caffeinated foods and beverages.

This study aimed to investigate whether combining anti-PD-L1 Atezolizumab with BEV may have a synergistic effect and enhance the efficacy of both treatments in cisplatin resistant epithelial ovarian cancer (CREOC). We retrospectively analyzed 124 epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) patients from Gynecologic Oncology Department of Tianjin Cancer Hospital between January 2013 and June 2018, who all were diagnosed with cisplatin resistance due to progressing

Discussion Suppressor of cytokine signaling 1 is an essential molecule for maintaining immune homeostasis and subverting inflammation. Disorders arising from excess inflammation or SOCS1 deficiency can be potentially treated with SOCS1 mimetics (Ahmed et al., 2015). While SOCS1 has promising potential in many disorders, it should be noted that new targets and actions of SOCS1 are still being discovered and not all the effects of this protein are beneficial in autoimmune diseases and cancer. For instance, SOCS1 degrades IRS1 and IRS2, required for insulin signaling, via the SOCS Box domain, thus, limiting its potential in ...

This study aimed to explore whether a correlation exists between the incidence and mortality of cancers and normalized internet search volumes on the big data platform, Baidu. We also assessed whether the distribution of people who searched for specific types of cancer differed by gender. Finally, we determined whether there were regional disparities among people who searched the Web for cancer-related information. Methods: Standard Boolean operators were used to choose search terms for each type of cancer. Spearman’s correlation analysis was used to explore correlations among monthly search index values for each can...
