In conclusion, the decreased numbers of VZV-specific CD8+T-cells during the acute phase and VZV-specific CD4+T-cells during the convalescent phase of disease may account for severe varicella in immunocompromised children. PMID: 32213753 [PubMed - in process]

Abstract Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality all over the world, particularly in China. Metastasis is the main factor resulting in the poor prognosis of patients with NSCLC. CXCR4 and EGFR have been widely studied due to their critical role in tumor metastasis, but it remains more elusive then the relationship between CXCR4 and EGFR. Studies have demonstrated that many tumors have been found the existence of the "cross-talk" between EGFR and CXCR4 signaling pathways. In this context, we explored the relationship between EGFR and CXCR4 signaling pathways in ...

Abstract OBJECTIVE: To explore the inhibitory effect of siRNA-Annexin A7 on growth, migration, and invasion of transplanted gastric cancer in nude mice. METHODS: The siRNA sequence targeting to human Annexin A7 gene was designed, and based on that a pair of complementary oligonucleotides were synthesized, annealed, and cloned into plasmid pGenesil-1.1 to construct recombinant plasmid siRNA-Annexin A7. Transplanted gastric cancer model was established by injecting s.c. nude mice with human gastric cancer BGC823 cells, and siRNA-Annexin A7 was injected into the tumors formed. The nude mice were observed for cli...

Purpose of review This review provides a risk-stratified and evidence-based management for subsets of systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients in the first five years from disease onset. Recent findings Cardiopulmonary disease remains the primary cause of mortality in SSc patients. Morbidity and mortality in SSc-associated pulmonary arterial hypertension have improved with combination treatment, in either an upfront or sequential treatment pattern. Traditional therapies for interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD) have targeted those with clinically significant and progressive ILD with immunosuppression. New data suggest a possib...

Purpose of review Summarize recent evidence on the identification and management of rheumatoid arthritis-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD). Recent findings Clinical and subclinical interstitial lung disease (ILD) are frequent extra-articular manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Better means of identifying and treating RA-ILD are needed to improve the prognosis, with a median survival of only 3–7 years after diagnosis. Several serum biomarkers are currently being evaluated for their ability to detect RA-ILD. Thorough evaluation and multidisciplinary discussion remains the gold standard for est...

This study investigated the effects of human umbilical-cord mesenchymal stem cells (HUMSCs) injection on diabetic rat model. The results show that the level of MIAT is significantly decreased in the diabetic retina after the injection of HUMSCs. Moreover, HUMSCs can significantly decrease the expression of IL-1β and IL-6 mRNA; alleviate microvascular permeability, and upregulate Occludin expression. Studies have shown that MIAT knockdown could alleviate diabetes-induced inflammation responses and vascular leakage. Furthermore, our findings also showed that the expression of MIAT was positively correlated with the expr...

CONCLUSIONS: The HLCs attenuated liver fibrosis more efficiently when transplanted along with HUVECs and AMSCs, and this suggested that we could improve the efficiency of cell therapy by transplanting functional cells partially along with stromal cells. PMID: 32211118 [PubMed]

AbstractPurpose of ReviewMyelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a heterogeneous hematological disorder characterized by a spectrum of clinical presentation, cytogenetic, and somatic gene mutations and the risk of transformation to acute leukemia. Management options include observation, supportive care, blood transfusion, administration of growth factors and/or hypomethylating agents, and hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) either upfront or after disease progression.Recent FindingsCurrently, HCT is the only curative therapy available for patients with MDS, with multiple factors such as donor availability, patient, and disease c...
