Gastric cancer susceptibility marker discovered

(Institut Pasteur) Gastric cancer is often associated with a poor prognosis because it tends to be diagnosed at an advanced stage. To reduce the death rate, it is essential to identify a biomarker enabling early diagnosis of this cancer. In pursuit of this goal, scientists analyzed the mechanisms involved in the development of gastric cancer during infection by the bacterial pathogen Helicobacter pylori. As a result, they were able to identify a potential susceptibility marker.
