Recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa oral lesions: a case report

Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a heterogeneous group of rare genetic disorders characterized by fragility of skin and mucous membranes, in which blistering lesions may arise spontaneously or by minor friction. There may be marked oral involvement, creating devastating alterations in the soft and hard tissues. The following case report describes the oral lesions observed in a 41-year-old female patient diagnosed as having recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB). She has been under medical assistance for the skin lesions and was under amoxicillin-clavulanate and silver sulfadiazine therapy.
