CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggests that American Indian smokeless tobacco users may not be using PREPs as a smokeless tobacco cessation aid. Future studies should take this finding into consideration when evaluating the role of PREPs use in smokeless tobacco cessation and in total tobacco cessation in this population. In this study, deletion mutants and point mutants of wPDPN with N-terminal RIEDL tag were produced to analyze the PMab-237 epitope using flow cytometry. The analysis of deletion mutants showed that the N-terminus of the PMab-237 epitope exists between the 80th amino acid (AA) and the 85th AA of wPDPN. In addition, the analysis of point mutants demonstrated that the critical epitope of PMab-237 includes Leu82 and Thr84 of wPDPN, indicating that the PMab-237 epitope is located in the PLD of wPDPN. The objective of this study was to compare the phenotypic method with DNA sequencing of the ITS regions for identification of dermatophyte species isolated in Dakar, Senegal. A collection of thirty-two strains of dermatophytes were isolated from patients suffering from dermatophytosis. This study characterized presumptive E. coli isolated from Obushera, a traditional fermented cereal beverage from Uganda. This study evaluated three different methods for sterilizing carnation leaves: microwave radiation, ultraviolet, and chlorine gas (CG) sterilization. Both microwave and ultraviolet treatments did not sufficiently sterilize leaf tissue, however, exposure to CG for 2 h resulted in no growth of either fungi or bacteria. This study verified the accuracy and precision of the counting efficiency delivered by LabSOCS, both with the standard powder geometry and a new geometry consisting in a 5 cm cubic specimen of Portland cement paste.
