Clinical features of genetically-confirmed patients with primary hyperoxaluria identified by clinical indication versus familial screening
Primary hyperoxaluria is a rare monogenic disorder characterized by excessive hepatic production of oxalate leading to recurrent nephrolithiasis, nephrocalcinosis and progressive kidney damage. Most patients with primary hyperoxaluria are diagnosed after clinical suspicion based on symptoms. Since some patients are detected by family screening following detection of an affected family member, we compared the clinical phenotype of these two groups. Patients with primary hyperoxaluria types 1, 2, and 3 enrolled in the Rare Kidney Stone Consortium Primary Hyperoxaluria Registry were retrospectively analyzed following capture of clinical and laboratory results in the Registry.

In conclusion, urinary SS varies throughout the day, being higher for CaOx and CaP at night, and in the early morning for UA. For CaOx and UA, the overnight and 12–4 pm urine samples, respectively, contribute most to the variability ob served in the SS of 24-h urine.

Ureteritis cystica is rare, benign entity that associates with chronic urothelial irritation such as recurrent urinary tract infection or nephrolithiasis. It is often diagnosed incidentally on routine imaging or ureteroscopy in asymptomatic individuals. In this case report, we present the retrograde pyelogram and ureteroscopy images of a rare case of extensive unilateral ureteritis cystica in a 78-year-old female presenting for elective stone surgery.
