Transcatheter Arterial Embolization for Gastrointestinal Bleeding related to Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma: Clinical Efficacy and Predictors of Clinical Outcome

ConclusionsTAE was effective and safe for pancreatic adenocarcinoma-related GI bleeding. Stent-related bleeding was not uncommon, and associated with vascular abnormality amenable to TAE. Massive transfusion and TNM stage 4 were related to clinical failure.

CONCLUSION: In real-world patients at high risk of bleeding, implantation of the polymer-free metallic stent coated with Biolimus-A9 (Biofreedom®; Biosensors Europe, Morges, Switzerland) followed by 1 -month DAPT showed encouraging results without any stent thrombosis. Authors: Li K, Yang J, Chen J, Shi Y, Zhang Z, Chen W Abstract The present study investigated if c-MYC and high mobility group AT-hook 2 (HMGA2) expression was associated with prognosis of patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). A total of 102 patients undergoing surgery for PDAC were retrospectively reviewed. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect c-MYC and HMGA2 protein expression in PDAC and peritumoral tissue samples. Expression of c-MYC and HMGA2 was associated with clinicopathological characteristics and prognoses of patients with PDAC using multivariate analysis. HMGA2 and c-MYC protein expre...

Authors: Banias L, Jung I, Bara T, Fulop Z, Simu P, Simu I, Satala C, Gurzu S Abstract The aim of the present study was to classify colorectal carcinoma (CRC) into molecular subtypes, based on immunohistochemical (IHC) assessments. A total of 112 CRC samples were molecularly classified based on the expression levels of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-associated IHC markers. A total of three molecular subtypes were defined: Epithelial, membrane positivity for E-cadherin and β-catenin, negative for vimentin; mesenchymal, E-cadherin-negative, nuclear β-catenin- and vimentin-positive; and hybrid cases...

Authors: Lou M, Gao Z, Zhu T, Mao X, Wang Y, Yuan K, Tong J Abstract As a member of the tripartite motif family, tripartite motif-containing protein 59 (TRIM59) serves as an E3 ubiquitin ligase in various cellular processes, including intracellular signaling, development, apoptosis, protein quality control, innate immunity, autophagy and carcinogenesis. The present study aimed to investigate the expression and prognostic value of TRIM59 in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Expression of TRIM59 in patients with NSCLC was measured by immunohistochemistry in tissue microarrays. Datasets from The Cancer...

Authors: Guan E, Tian F, Liu Z Abstract Stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) accounts for 95% of cases of malignant gastric cancer, which is the third leading cause of cancer-associated mortality worldwide. The pathogenesis and effective diagnosis of STAD have become popular topics for research in the previous decade. In the present study, high-throughput RNA sequencing expression profiles and clinical data from patients with STAD were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas database and were used as a training dataset to screen differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Prognostic DEGs were identified using univariate Cox regr...

CONCLUSIONS: HSV may induce perianal infections, anal infections and HSV proctitis. Diagnosis of HSV1 and HSV2 using PCR is recommended. Anal and genital HSV infections are a risk factor for subsequent HIV infection. The risk is higher for HSV2 infection due to more frequent recurrences. ConclusionSurgery in NF1 vascular involvement should be considered on a case by case basis especially when the risk of iatrogenesis is high. Surgeons need to be aware of hemorrhagic risks, which could occur because of vessel friability.

ConclusionDiagnosis and management of pituitary metastases are complex and depend on many factors. Endoscopic surgical resection and debulking alleviates symptoms and provides the definitive diagnosis which has great importance in cases with clinical presentation that does not strongly point to pituitary metastasis to avoid unnecessary radiotherapy and chemotherapy when possible.
