Interference With ESAM (Endothelial Cell-Selective Adhesion Molecule) Plus Vascular Endothelial-Cadherin Causes Immediate Lethality and Lung-Specific Blood Coagulation.
CONCLUSIONS: Despite well-documented roles of JAM-A and PECAM-1 for the regulation of endothelial junctions, only for ESAM we detected an essential role for endothelial barrier integrity in a tissue-specific way. In addition, we found that it is ESAM which prevents endothelial junction rupture in the lung when VE-cadherin is absent. PMID: 31826650 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that decreased miR-338-5p promotes DVT formation by increasing IL-6 expression. PMID: 31852218 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSIONS: In HIMF-induced PH, HMGB1-RAGE signaling is pivotal for mediating EC-smooth muscle cell cross talk. The humanized mouse data further support clinical implications for the HIMF/HMGB1 signaling axis and indicate that hResistin and its downstream pathway may constitute targets for the development of novel anti-PH therapeutics in humans. ology; Council on Cardiopulmonary, Critical Care, Perioperative and Resuscitation; and Council on Cardiovascular Surgery and Anesthesia Abstract Pulmonary embolism (PE) represents the third leading cause of cardiovascular mortality. The technological landscape for management of acute intermediate- and high-risk PE is rapidly evolving. Two interventional devices using pharmacomechanical means to recanalize the pulmonary arteries have recently been cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration for marketing, and several others are in various stages of development. The purpose of this document is to clarify the curr...
CONCLUSIONS: Emetine is an old but novel drug for PAH that reduces excessive proliferation of PAH-PASMCs and improves right ventricular functions. PMID: 31533472 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
CONCLUSIONS: Increased 4-hydroxynonenal level plays a critical role in the development of HPH. ALDH2 attenuates the development of HPH by regulating mitochondrial fission and smooth muscle cell proliferation suggesting ALDH2 as a potential new therapeutic target for pulmonary hypertension. Abstract While the opioid epidemic has garnered significant attention, the use of methamphetamines is growing worldwide independent of wealth or region. Following overdose and accidents, the leading cause of death in methamphetamine users is cardiovascular disease, because of significant effects of methamphetamine on vasoconstriction, pulmonary hypertension, atherosclerotic plaque formation, cardiac arrhythmias, and cardiomyopathy. In this review, we examine the current literature on methamphetamine-induced changes in cardiovascular health, discuss the potential mechanisms regulating these varied effects, and high...

Conclusions- Our results show that CHK1 exerts a proproliferative function in PAH-PASMCs by mitigating DNA damage and suggest that CHK1 inhibition may, therefore, represent an attractive therapeutic option for patients with PAH. PMID: 31092016 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
