A Comparative Analysis of Patients ’ Quality of Life, Body Image and Self-confidence Before and After Aesthetic Rhinoplasty Surgery

AbstractObjectiveHaving desired facial features creates a better mental image, results in increased self-confidence and boosts social activities to a more acceptable level. The goal of the current study is to investigate how rhinoplasty surgery affects patients admitted to Shahrekord surgical clinic.MethodsThe study was conducted on 100 patients randomly selected and referring for rhinoplasty surgery. The required information was collected through demographic questionnaires of rhinoplasty outcomes F 36 and Rosenberg ’s self-esteem scale. The questionnaires were filled out by patients before surgery and 3 months after surgery. The data were analyzed using SPSS and data mining software.FindingsOut of the hundred participants, 63% were female and 37% were male. The number of individuals in the studied groups decreased in older age groups so that most of the participants were in the 20 –24-year group followed by 25–30 y/o group. Patients from other age groups were less frequent. In terms of educational attainment, the highest frequency was associated with a BSc and the lowest with a diploma. In terms of employment status, the highest frequency was among students and the unempl oyed and employees and the self-employed followed. Body image and self-esteem were significantly improved after surgery (p

CONCLUSIONS: Most patients with isolated cleft lip may not require long-term, longitudinal evaluation by cleft team specialists. Cleft teams should develop limited follow-up protocols for these children to improve resource allocation and promote value-based care in this patient population. AbstractRhinoplasty is undoubtedly one of the most challenging operations in the face. Since its introduction by the fathers of modern cosmetic rhinoplasty such as John Orlando Roe in the United States and Jack Joseph in Europe, we have witnessed many advances and refinements in the nose approach, and specifically in the management of the nasal dorsum. This is the case of the conservative rhinoplasty techniques, Push down and Let down, that have become very popular again in recent years. The aim of this article is to present a new modification of the dorsal conservative techniques with predictable and lasting esthetic resu...

A rare case of intraosseous cavernous hemangioma was identified in the nasal root. Using a combination of endoscopic surgery and open rhinoplasty, an osteotomy was performed and resection of the hemangioma was successfully achieved with transcolumellar and infracartilaginous incisions and 2 stab incisions. No adverse side effects were observed after the procedure, no tumor recurrence was observed at the 16-month-postoperative follow-up. The preserved periosteum contributed to the osteogenesis and thus, a need for a reconstructive surgery was indicated.

Conclusions Anatomic reconstruction of the nasal dorsum and refining the nasal tip using an osseocartilaginous rib graft with the cantilever technique are effective in acute nasal trauma patients who wish to enhance their nasal profile in the primary treatment setting.

The aim of this study was to compare the effects of low-flow sevoflurane anaesthesia and total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA) on agitation in rhinoplasty patients, and to determine the frequency of EA in low flow sevoflurane anaesthesia after rhinoplasty.Material and methodsA total of 90 rhinoplasty patients, under general anaesth...

AbstractBackgroundThere is an anecdotal belief among some surgeons performing Asian eyelid surgery that double eyelid surgery itself decreases eyebrow position. However, the exact amount of descent and the specific changes in the proportion of facial aesthetics are unknown.PurposeThe goal of this study is to determine whether there indeed is a change in brow position after double eyelidplasty and to quantify the proportional differences associated with the change. The three-point double eyelids surgery method was used so that the change in the brow position is solely attributed to the surgery itself and not to the excision...

Conclusion: The authors describe the development of DL applications to identify the presence of superficial surgical procedures solely from images and labels. DL is especially well suited for unstructured, high-fidelity visual and auditory data that does not lend itself to classical statistical analysis, and may be deployed as mobile applications for potentially unbridled use, so the authors expect DL to play a key role in many areas of plastic surgery.

The nasal tip projection and rotation to be obtained with tip plasty play a key role in achieving successful results. Cartilage sparing techniques provide extra ease to reshape the cartilage in revision rhinoplasty. Freed dome cartilage eliminates the restricting forces of mucosa. The authors recommend to free the dome cartilage from mucosa during the tip plasty which ensures the desired dome shape and extra projection. A total of 218 patients who were operated between the dates of January 2017 and August 2018 were included in this study. About 3 mm parts of the marked domes toward medial and lateral crurae were dissecte...

Conclusion: The results of the statistical analysis (ANOVA) performed using SPSS reveal the significant difference between males and females in all the 3 repeated measurements of nasal angles. The final discriminant classification statistics show that 64% of original grouped cases have been correctly classified and the designed statistical model can be used in several forensic scenarios for the sex determination on the basis of the available nasal angles. The study may be further useful in the identification cases pertaining to facial reconstruction. The investigation may also be helpful in providing specific correlation...
