Open Mastoid Cavity Obliteration With a High-Porosity Hydroxyapatite Ceramic Leads to High Rate of Revision Surgery and Insufficient Cavity Obliteration
Conclusions: Poor cavity obliteration, a high rate of revision surgery and difficult differentiation between recurrent cholesteatoma and granulation tissue in CT scan was observed.
ConclusionGiven its clinical introduction, MPI has the potential to overcome the disadvantages of MRI and CT concerning the visualization of the stent lumen.
ConclusionPETCECT is a valuable tool to rule out metastatic disease in patients presenting with LAGBC.
ConclusionsUnequivocal instability is observed with simultaneous transection of the Lisfranc ligament with both plantar ligaments. On CT used as diagnostic tool, plantar injuries at the basis of the second and the third metatarsal are indirect signs of violation of the ligaments and represent an indication for surgical treatment. When using magnetic resonance imaging as diagnostic tool, a ruptured Lisfranc ligament alone without dislocation does not necessarily need surgical intervention.
We present the case of a 55-year-old female who developed cranial nerve symptoms after a 20-year history of HAM/TSP. Although multiple white matter lesions were observed on brain magnetic resonance imaging, no abnormalities were seen on a systemic computed tomography scan. Quantitative flow-cytometric analysis of cell populations in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) revealed that most of the infiltrating cells were not inflammatory cells, but HTLV-1-infected CD4+ CADM-1+ T-cells completely lacking CD7 expression. As stepwise downregulation of CD7 is correlated with disease progression fro...
Conclusions: MRI is superior to CT scan for detection of structural injuries in children and adolescents with traumatic hip dislocation. The unique structural injuries included entrapment of posterior labrum and posterior unossified acetabular fractures could be seen only at MRI. These findings will impact surgical decision making of these injuries. Level of evidence: Level IV.
Conclusion: Liver transplantation provides the longest overall survival reported in colorectal cancer patient with nonresectable liver metastases. Improved selection criteria give patients with nonresectable colorectal liver metastases a 5-year overall survival comparable to other indications for liver transplantation.
Conclusion: Our retrospective analysis confirms the presence of CT and MRI abnormalities in DFNA9 patients with the P51S mutation in the COCH gene. A correlation between these radiologic features and vestibular function (tested by means of caloric response) was found in this population.
ConclusionAppendicular endometriosis can present as a submucosal tumor in the cecum without any abdominal symptoms. Appendicular endometriosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of ileocecal submucosal tumor. Single-incision laparoscopic ileocolectomy was useful procedure for cecum tumor resection.
rafiello Golfieri Computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and 18-fluorideoxyglucose positron emission tomography (18FDG-PET) are historically the most accurate imaging techniques for diagnosing liver metastases. Recently, the combination of diffusion-weighted imaging and hepatospecific contrast media, such as gadoxetic acid in MRI, have been demonstrated to have the highest diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity for detecting liver metastases. Various recent meta-analyses have confirmed the diagnostic superiority of this combination (diffusion-weighted imaging and gadoxetic acid-enhanc...
Abstract During the last two decades a neoadjuvant treatment concept has been established for an increasing number of malignant tumors of the gastrointestinal tract; however, these concepts are still subject to a constant change concerning the indications and type of treatment. A prime example for this is rectal cancer. The rate of local recurrence in particular was significantly reduced by neoadjuvant therapy but until now it has not been possible to validly show an improvement in overall or disease-free survival. At the beginning of the millennium it was recommended to treat every rectal carcinoma...
