Here we demonstrate a molecular design for improving diolefin elastomer aging resistance by Diels-Alder reaction. The antioxidant effect is attributed to the healing of damaged structure upon thermal oxidative aging, which significantly promotes the mechanical properties of elastomers. The Ashby plot demonstrates that tensile strength and elongation at break of our design elastomers outperform those of elastomers with conventional antioxidant system after thermal oxidative process. Therefore, we believe that structure healing strategy can act as molecular design for improving the aging resistance of diolefin elastomer.Graphical abstract
