Monsanto's former CEO ordered to testify in St. Louis Roundup trial

Former Monsanto Co. Chairman and CEO Hugh Grant has been ordered to testify in persons at a Roundup trial in St. Louis in January. Grant, who led St. Louis-based Monsanto from 2003 until the company was sold to Bayer AG of Germany for $63 billion in 2018, was subpoenaed by lawyers for plaintiff Sharlean Gordon, who contends the Roundup weedkiller caused her non-Hodgkin lymphoma. We report the case of a 58 year old man with occult obscure gastro-intestinal bleeding (OGIB) without other significant symptoms, in which systemic localisation of follicular B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma was discovered trough capsule endoscopy. This case reflects the clinical significance of performing capsule endoscopy in patients with OGIB. PMID: 32233275 [PubMed - in process]

Authors: Suzuki T, Tetsuka S, Ogawa T, Hashimoto R, Okada S, Kato H Abstract VZV encephalitis in the absence of vasculopathy may rarely occur in association with herpes zoster. We herein report the case of a 67-year-old woman with non-Hodgkin' s lymphoma undergoing chemotherapy who presented with an acute alteration in consciousness. Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain revealed multiple and nonspecific lesions of hyperintensity with mild edema in the cortex and subcortex. She was treated with intravenous acyclovir. However, two days after admission, the patient died and was diagnosed with VZV encephalitis. This...

Authors: Charifa A, Paulson N, Levy L, Perincheri S, Lee A, McNiff JM, Ko CJ Abstract Intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVLBCL) is a rare subset of extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma characterized by neoplastic lymphocytes within the lumina of small to medium-sized blood vessels. IVLBCLs are B-cell tumors that can present in essentially any organ system, including the skin. Cutaneous manifestations vary greatly and can mimic other skin disease which may delay diagnosis; in the absence of skin lesions, blind skin biopsies can be utilized for diagnosis. Early studies suggested that IVLBCL is a very aggressive lymphom...

Authors: Sachpekidis C, Exadaktylou P, Katsampoukas D, Moralidis E, Arsos G Abstract Peritoneal lymphomatosis, defined as the disseminated intraperitoneal lymphomatous infiltration, is a rare presentation usually of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and is associated with aggressive histological subtypes of the malignancy. Recently, the term "peritoneal super scan" has been introduced in positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in a patient with Burkitt lymphoma to describe hypermetabolic lymphomatous involvement of the entire peritoneum, leading to suppression of tracer uptake in organs with otherwis...

Abstract Gastrointestinal (GI) diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is one of the frequently reported histologic subtypes of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) that occur in the GI tract. However, the presentation of quite different clinical manifestations, morphologic characteristics, immunophenotypes, and molecular biologic features is challenging for its diagnosis. Herein, we describe a rare case of primary colorectal DLBCL that occurred in a 59-year-old immunocompetent Chinese female who attended our respiratory clinic for the third time with an asymptomatic pleural effusion and pleural thickening. In her clinical se...
