Assessment of contact lens dehydration using an in vivo and ex vivo methodology

Purpose: Hydrophilic contact lenses are known to be prone to dehydration during wear. In this clinical study we compared a gravimetric approach (ex vivo) and a refractometer approach (in vivo) to assess changes in contact lens material water content with wear.
