Considering the Needs of Older Sexual and Gender Minority People

Sexual and gender minority older adults face unique challenges in health care and are at greater risk for poor health outcomes. The aging population is growing significantly. Nurse practitioners have an opportunity to address the specific challenges associated with family and social support, unique relationships, sexuality and its implications, the lack of community resources, housing including long-term care, end-of-life and palliative care disparities for these populations.
