This study aims to explore the relationship between miR-195 and CD40 and its effect on Th17/Treg balance in rats with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).MethodsWe established rat models of NAFLD and made seven groups, Normal group (without modeling), Model group (model rats), NC group (model rats injected with negative control vector), miR-195 OE group (model rats injected with miR-195 mimic), anti-miR-195 group (model rats injected with miR-195 inhibitor), Si-CD40 group (model rats injected with CD40 silencing vector), and anti-miR-195+Si-CD40 group (model rats injected with miR-195 inhibitor and CD40 silencing vec...

CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that people who die by suicide while under the influence of alcohol are more likely to be under acute stress (e.g. separation) and not have earlier psychiatric conditions, except substance use. This highlights the importance of more strict alcohol policies, but also the need to improve substance use treatment. PMID: 31973775 [PubMed - in process]

Protein kinase C promotes choline transporter‑like protein 1 function via improved cell surface expression in immortalized human hepatic cells. Mol Med Rep. 2020 Feb;21(2):777-785 Authors: Ishikawa T, Suwanai H, Shikuma J, Suzuki R, Yamanaka T, Odawara M, Inazu M Abstract Choline is used to synthesize phospholipids and a lack of choline induces a number of liver‑related diseases, including non‑alcoholic steatohepatitis. The current study characterized the choline uptake system, at molecular and functional levels, in the immortalized human hepatic cell line, Fa2N‑4, to identify the spe...

Identification of hub genes and key pathways of dietary advanced glycation end products‑induced non‑alcoholic fatty liver disease by bioinformatics analysis and animal experiments. Mol Med Rep. 2020 Feb;21(2):685-694 Authors: Wang J, Liu H, Xie G, Cai W, Xu J Abstract Non‑alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common chronic liver disease. Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) negatively affect the liver and accelerate NAFLD progression; however, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. The present study aimed to examine the effect and mechanism of dietary AGEs on the mouse liver using bioi...

Although germline knockdown of NPY-Y1R in mice alleviates high-fat-diet-induced obesity and increases CPT1α levels in the liver, the role of the Y1 receptor in specific tissues has not been studied.Main methodsMCD diet is the most widely used method to establish a model of lean NASH in a short time. We therefore evaluated the role of liver NPY-Y1R in NASH progression.Key findi...

Publication date: Available online 25 January 2020Source: The Journal of Chemical ThermodynamicsAuthor(s): Seyyed Mohammad Arzideh, Kamyar Movagharnejad, Mohsen PirdashtiAbstractExperimental phase diagrams for {1-butanol/2-butanol/t-butyl alcohol+ potassium hydrogen phosphate (K2HPO4) + water} at 298.15 K have been determined, and their ability to separate an amino acid, L-Tryptophan, were measured. An excess Gibbs energy model has been proposed for modelling of aqueous two-phase systems (ATPS) containing light straight/branched alcohol, K2HPO4, and water. The hybrid ion-interaction and solvation model (HIS) was implemente...

The developed sensing template in this study was prepared by a one-step process on a glass substrate using the electrospinning technique. The sensing material made of the uniaxial aligned CdSe-CdS/Ag/PMMA composite scaffold consists of CdSe-CdS core-shell quantum rods, silver n...

This study aims to identify the prevalence of preoperative opioid prescriptions and the specialty and practice setting of the prescriber, as well as the percentage of patients who do not report their opioid prescriptions and any variables associated with preoperative opioid prescriptions. METHODS: A total of 461 consecutive new patients evaluated for an arthritic hip or knee were retrospectively studied using institutional data from a tertiary-care, urban center at a university-affiliated private-practice and the state Prescription Monitoring Program to identify opioid prescriptions (including medication, number of pil...
