Interaction between eNOS gene polymorphism and current smoking on susceptibility to coronary heart disease in Chinese people

This study aims to explore the relation between endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods SNPstats (online software: http://bioinfo.iconcologia.net/SNPstats) was performed to test Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium in controls. Generalized multifactor dimensionality reduction (GMDR) was adopted to screen the preferable interaction between eNOS SNPs and smoking. Results The frequency for the rs1799983-T allele was 31.1% in CHD patients, which was significantly higher than that of 19.8% in controls (P

Authors: Li L, Wu F, Xie Y, Xu W, Xiong G, Xu Y, Huang S, Wu Y, Jiang X Abstract A previous study and a gene-annotation enrichment analysis for potential targets of the microRNA miR-202-3p both suggest that this microRNA might be implicated in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. In the present study, the role of miR-202-3p in the pathogenesis of coronary heart disease (CHD) was explored. We conduct a case-control study to detect the expression levels of miR-202-3p in peripheral blood cells and found that miR-202-3p expression was significantly higher in CHD cases than in controls (P

Publication date: Available online 21 January 2020Source: SeizureAuthor(s): Petra Redfors, Lukas Holmegaard, Annie Pedersen, Christina Jern, Kristina MalmgrenAbstractPurposeTo assess long-term incidence and predictors of post-stroke epilepsy (PSE) and to evaluate the antiepileptic drug (AED) treatment in a well characterized cohort of middle-aged patients.MethodsThe study is based on the Sahlgrenska Study on Ischemic stroke, and included 1066 adult patients with first-ever or recurrent acute ischemic stroke (AIS) before the age of 70. Early seizures (ES) were defined as seizures within one week and PSE as unprovoked seizur...

This study was designed to explore the expression of LncRNA-ANRIL in patients with coronary heart disease before and after treatment and its short-term survival prediction value. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Eighty-three patients with coronary heart disease who came to our hospital undergoing interventional therapy were selected as a research group, 81 healthy volunteers who came to our hospital for normal physical examination during the same period were selected as a control group, and LncRNA-ANRIL of subjects in the two groups before and after treatment were detected by RT-PCR. Levels of Gensini score, lactate dehydrogenase...

Recent studies have unveiled an association between ADAMTS7 gene variation and coronary artery disease (CAD) caused by atherosclerosis. We investigated if the ADAMTS7 Serine214-to-Proline substitution arising from a CAD-associated variant affected angiogenesis, since neovascularization plays an important role in atherosclerosis.

Conclusion: Granule of BU-XIN RUAN-MAI is an excellent prescription for treatment of coronary heart disease by suppressing inflammation and NAPDH-mediated oxidative stress. The miR-542-3p/GABARAP axis is required for Granule of BU-XIN RUAN-MAI, exhibiting its protective activity against the pectoris of coronary heart disease. PMID: 31949464 [PubMed]

Authors: Boos CJ, De Villiers N, Dyball D, McConnell A, Bennett AN Abstract Background and Objectives: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death among military veterans with several reports suggesting a link between combat and related traumatic injury (TI) to an increased CVD risk. The aim of this paper is to conduct a widespread systematic review and meta-analysis of the relationship between military combat ± TI to CVD and its associated risk factors. Methods: PubMed, EmbaseProQuest, Cinahl databases and Cochrane Reviews were examined for all published observational studies ...

CONCLUSION: We found that even moderate serum levels of NT-proBNP were associated with the risk of total and ischemic strokes among Japanese whose NT-proBNP levels were relatively low compared with Westerners. PMID: 31932552 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
