CATALYTIC OXIDATION OF ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL OVER PLATINUM BASED CATALYST: A STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF METHYL CELLULOSE ON Pt PARTICLES DISPERSION OVER MULLITE

This study showed that platinum exhibits better dispersion on alumina sites than silica sites. This can be due to a strong interaction between platinum and alumina, leading to a higher dispersion of platinum species. Furthermore, the addition of MC enhanced the Pt dispersion over the mullite, leading to an improvement in the catalytic performance.

AbstractSelf-assembly of the bowl-shapedC-alkylcalix[4]resorcinarene (alkyl  = –iBu, CBCR; –CH2CH2Ph, CPCR) with the bifunctional spacer 4,4 ′-bipyridine (bipy) in alcohol solvent was investigated. Co-crystallization of CBCR with bipy in ethanol afforded a one-dimensional compound of CBCR·bipy·3EtOH (1). Heating a mixture of CPCR and bipy in ethanol led to the isolation of the compound CPCR·2bipy·EtOH (2), which has a one-dimensional wave-like polymer structure. Compounds1 and2 both crystallize in the triclinic space groupP\(\bar{1}\), witha  =  13.1...

(CNN) — The US Food and Drug Administration is giving the maker of Purell products a stern warning: Stop making unproven claims that over-the-counter hand sanitizers help eliminate Ebola, MRSA or the flu. In a “warning letter” to Purell’s parent, Gojo Industries, the agency called out the company for making numerous marketing claims that potentially position its sanitizing products as a pharmaceutical drug rather than an over-the-counter topical antiseptic. The letter from the agency’s director of compliance cited numerous examples of what the FDA says are unproven claims for Purell products m...

This study aimed to assess in vitro acaricidal activity of essential oil (EO) and alcoholic extracts (AE) of Ajowan against D. gallinae. Using contact and spraying bioassays, different doses of EO and AE were tested. Cypermethrin and thymol (positive controls), and ethanol and distilled water (negative controls) were also tested. The results indicated that effects were method and dose dependent. Statistical analysis showed a highly significant difference for contact and spraying bioassays and various doses of EO and AE (p
