Thiazolidine-2,4-dione (TZD) is a privileged scaffold and an outstanding heterocyclic moiety in the field of drug discovery, which provides various opportunities ...

ConclusionApoA1 was associated with decreased T2DM risk and TG/ApoA1 and apoB/LDL were associated with increased risk of T2DM, only in males. ApoA1 polymorphism, which is associated with lower HDL cholesterol, influenced the predictive effects of HOMA-IR on T2DM incidence, which appeared to be moderated by physical activity, suggesting potential scope for more targeted preventative strategies.

We examined glycemic, metabolic, and circulatory parameters at baseline and 24 weeks after administration. All patients completed the study without complications. Compared with baseline, levels of glycated hemoglobin, fasting plasma glucose, and homeostasis model assessment of β-cell function improved significantly at 24 weeks after administration (p

The objective of this study was to determine the association of circulating retinol and α-TOH with cognition in aging subjects with T2DM.MethodsA total of 448 T2DM subjects and 448 age, gender and education matched control subjects (aged 55 –75 years) were included in the study. Demographic characters of the participants were collected. Food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) method was used to collect dietary intake information. To assess the status of cognition, the MoCA test was used. Circulating retinol and α-TOH levels were compared between T2DM and non-T2DM subjects. Correlation of circulating retinol an...

CONCLUSIONS: The clinical polymorphism effectiveness outlined therein will be assured by diagnostic improvements suitable for driving treatment decisions. In light of our experimental results and literature data, the analysis of the SLCO1B1 T521C variant will allow clinicians to take advantage from a better treatment planned for their patients in order to minimize neuromuscular pain and maximize benefits. Purpose: To assess changes on optical coherence tomography (OCT) angiography in diabetic macular edema (DME) treated with subthreshold micropulse yellow laser (SMPL) over a period of 6 months. Methods: Thirty-five eyes (35 consecutive patients) with treatment-naive DME prospectively underwent (at baseline, 3 and 6 months) best-corrected visual acuity, swept-source OCT angiography/OCT, and fundus autofluorescence. Following parameters were evaluated on OCT angiography in the superficial capillary plexus (SCP) and deep capillary plexus (DCP): the area of foveal avascular zone, number of microaneurysms (MA), area of cyst...

Purpose: To separately evaluate the three retinal capillary plexuses and the choriocapillaris in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) Type 1 and Type 2, without clinical signs of diabetic retinopathy. Methods: The study was prospective and cross-sectional. Only patients with age ≤55 years were included. We used a swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography device (Triton; Topcon, Tokyo, Japan) to obtain both quantitative and qualitative analysis of the retinal capillary plexuses (superficial capillary plexus; middle capillary plexus; and deep capillary plexus) and the choriocapillaris. Results: We incl...

SummarySurgical treatment of obesity leads to weight loss and metabolic improvement, but it is unclear if the response differs between patients with and without type 2 diabetes. Retrospective cohort study comparing weight loss and metabolic outcomes between patients with and without type 2 diabetes, matched for body mass index (BMI), gender and age, 12  months after Roux‐en‐Y gastric bypass. Forty‐eight patients with type 2 diabetes (D) and 48 without type 2 diabetes (ND) were evaluated, 87.5% female, mean age 42.2 ± 0.9 years. The mean baseline weight and BMI of the D and ND groups...

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a condition defined by hyperglycaemia, but also often presents with dyslipidaemia and suppressed HDL cholesterol. Mendelian randomization studies have suggested a causal link between low HDL cholesterol and T2DM. However, influences of gender, polymorphisms and lifestyle, all known to influence HDL cholesterol, have not been fully explored in a prospective cohort.
