FORCE dual-energy CT in pathological grading of clear cell renal cell carcinoma.

FORCE dual-energy CT in pathological grading of clear cell renal cell carcinoma. Oncol Lett. 2019 Dec;18(6):6405-6412 Authors: Zhang C, Wang N, Su X, Li K, Yu D, Ouyang A Abstract The aim of the present study was to examine the value of FORCE dual-energy CT in grading the clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). A total of 35 cases of ccRCC were included. Hematoxylin and eosin staining was performed, and the cases were divided into low- (Fuhrman I-II) and high-grade (Fuhrman III-IV) groups. FORCE dual-energy CT parameters, including virtual network computing CT value (VNCV), iodine overlay value (IOV), mixed energy CT value (MEV), iodine concentration (IC), normalized iodine concentration (NIC), NIC based on aorta (NICA), NIC based on cortex (NICC) and NIC based on medulla (NICM), were analyzed and compared. Receiver operating characteristic analysis was also performed. There were significant differences in the arterial phase IOV, MEV and IC, and the venous phase IOV and IC between the low- and high-grade groups. No significant differences were observed in VNCV and MEV between the low -and high-grade groups in the venous phase. Significant differences were observed in the NICA and NICC between these two groups, however no difference was observed in NICM. There were significant differences in the tumor CT values for the arterial phase at the 40, 60, 80 and 100 kiloelectron volt (keV) between the low- and high-grade groups, while no significant differences ...

The objective of the present study was to investigate the ability of caspase recruitment domain 10 (CARD10) to regulate the NF‑κB signaling pathway and promote the progression of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Expression of CARD10 in ACHN, 786‑O and HK‑2 cells was evaluated via western blot analysis, as was the epidermal growth factor (EGF)‑induced activation of NF‑κB signaling pathway‑related proteins in cells. The expression of CARD10 was inhibited by CARD10 short hairpin RNA transfection. Cell cycle analysis and MTT assays were used to evaluate cell proliferation. Cell apoptosis was analyzed via flo...

e Rha Cho Ham The molecular characteristics of early-stage clear cell renal cell carcinomas (ccRCCs) measuring ≤7 cm associated with poor clinical outcomes remain poorly understood. Here, we sought to validate genes associated with ccRCC progression and identify candidate genes to predict ccRCC aggressiveness. From among 1069 nephrectomies performed on patients, RNA sequencing was performed for 12 ccRCC patients with aggressive characteristics and matched pairs of 12 ccRCC patients without aggressive characteristics. Using a prospective cohort ( Identifier: NCT03694912), the expression...

CONCLUSIONS: We profiled a prognostic signature and established an immune risk score model for ccRCC, which could provide novel predictive markers for patients with ccRCC and an indicator for immunotherapy response measurement. PMID: 31929144 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

We present an 84y woman with a three week history of erythematous rash, and 48hrs of bullae. A left clear cell renal cell carcinoma was identified on CT imaging during the presentation. Subsequent removal of the tumour resulted in resolution of bullous pemphigoid symptoms. This first-of-kind case and successful result strengthens the association between renal cell carcinoma and paraneoplastic bullous pemphigoid, arguing for a high degree of clinical suspicion in unexplained presentations of bullous pemphigoid.

Conclusions: According to the current evidence presented in this review, a TDM-guided dose modification of sunitinib in selected groups of patients could provide a better treatment outcome while simultaneously preventing sunitinib toxicity.

Conclusion: Our study demonstrates the potential of CEUS in the differentiation of bland and tumor thrombus of the IVC in patients with RCC. Since CEUS is an effective, inexpensive, and non-invasive method, it could be a reliable tool in the evaluation of IVC thrombus in patients with RCC.

ConclusionsOur data highlight that iASPP plays a crucial role in the inhibition of 5-Fu-induced apoptosis resistance by removing ROS accumulation in gastric adenocarcinoma, and that the removal of ROS induced by iASPP is Nrf2 signaling dependent.
