LncRNA HOST2 enhances gefitinib-resistance in non-small cell lung cancer by down-regulating miRNA-621.

CONCLUSIONS: HOST2 elevates gefitinib-resistance in NSCLC by degrading miRNA-621 to upregulate SYF2. PMID: 31799663 [PubMed - in process]

AbstractDammarenolic acid (DA) is an A-seco-dammarane triterpenoids, isolated fromDipterocarpus alatus resin. DA was modified including reactions of esterification and amination with heterocyclic amines andl-amino acids. The structures of new compounds were confirmed by MS,1H NMR, and13C NMR spectroscopic analyses and their activities againstα-glucosidase and acetylcholinesteras were studied. The cytotoxic activity of DA was screened using a broad panel of 60 human cancer cell lines and it has cytotoxic effect for a variety of human tumor cell lines (leukemia, non-small cell lung cancer, colon cancer, CNS cancer, mel...

aacute;lez-Noya AM, Pedrido R Abstract A series of phosphino-thiosemicarbazone gold(I) dinuclear complexes obtained by two different synthetic procedures have been prepared. All the compounds have been spectroscopically characterized including single crystal X ray diffraction analysis in some of cases. [Au2(HL1)Cl2] (1), [Au2(HL2)2]Cl2 (2) and [Au2(HL3)2]Cl2 (3) have been prepared by chemical synthesis using a gold(III) salt as precursor; while [Au2(L1)2] (4), [Au2(L2)2]∙2CH3CN (5) and [Au2(L3)2] (6) have been isolated from an electrochemical synthesis (HLn = 2-[2-(diphenylphosphanyl)-benzylidene]-N-R-thiose...

Heerlein Hussain :The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family contains four transmembrane tyrosine kinases (EGFR1/ErbB1, Her2/ErbB2, Her3/ErbB3 and Her4/ErbB4) and 13 secreted polypeptide ligands. EGFRs are overexpressed in many solid tumors, including breast, pancreas, head-and-neck, prostate, ovarian, renal, colon, and non-small-cell lung cancer. Such overexpression produces strong stimulation of downstream signaling pathways, which induce cell growth, cell differentiation, cell cycle progression, angiogenesis, cell motility and blocking of apoptosis. The high expression and/or functional activation of EGF...

Abstract Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. PARP inhibitors have become a new line of cancer therapy and a successful demonstration of the synthetic lethality concept. The mechanism and efficacy of PARP inhibitors have been well studied in some cancers, especially homologous recombination (HR)-deficient ovarian cancer and breast cancer, yet such studies are still relatively fewer in lung cancer. Here we found that HR genes are frequently mutated in lung cancer patients, exposing a window for targeted therapies by PARP inhibitors. We depleted BRCA1 and BRCA2 in non-small cell lung cancer (N...

SharmaAbstractWith the advent of targeted therapies there was a paradigm shift in the treatment of metastatic adenocarcinoma of lung. Immuno-histopathology and molecular subtyping in metastatic adenocarcinoma lung have enabled personalized treatment for each patient. Oncogenic driver mutations in non-small cell lung cancer are commonly EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor) gene mutation and ALK (Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase) gene rearran...

Titan and colleagues have performed secondary data analyses from data collected by the multicenter randomized Prostate, Lung, Colorectal and Ovarian Cancer Screening Trial (1993-2001).1 This longitudinal screening trial collected detailed clinical data, including non –small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) incidence, postdiagnosis therapies, and detailed hormone use. The primary finding of their analyses is that hormone-replacement therapy (HRT) is associated with a 20% reduction in developing NSCLC. However, HRT was not associated with improved survival following dia gnosis and treatment.

CONCLUSIONS: This study confirms the activity and safety of SBRT in patients with MPR-OC and identifies clinical and treatment parameters able to predict CR and LC rate. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: This study aimed to define activity and safety of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) in a very large, real life data set of patients with metastatic, persistent, recurrent ovarian cancer (MPR-OC). Patient age 25 Gy were associated with better local control (LC) rate. Mild toxicity was experienced in 20.7% of patients. In conclusion, this study confirms the activity and safety of SBRT in MPR-OC patients and identifies clin...

AbstractBackgroundTumor Treating Fields (TTFields) are a non-invasive, antimitotic therapy delivered to the tumor via transducer arrays applied to the skin at tumor site. The only TTFields-related adverse event (AE) reported in clinical trials was localized dermatitis beneath the arrays. The safety of TTFields has also been investigated in glioblastoma, non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), mesothelioma, pancreatic and ovarian cancer. This meta-analysis reported AEs in clinical studies with TTFields torso delivery.Methods192 patients from 4 pilot studies were included in the analysis: EF-15 (n  = 41, advanced N...
