Isolated dystonia may arise due to genetic causes or occasionally an unknown aetiology. Although clinical presentation aids in narrowing down possibilities, genetic analysis is confirmatory. DYT6 or DYT-THAP1 is an isolated dystonia typically manifesting at an early age with focal upper limb (UL) or cranial onset with subsequent generalization [1,2]. Most reported mutations are either missense or out-of-frame deletions in the thanatos-associated protein 1 (THAP1) gene, and intronic or splice site mutations have been rarely described [1,3,4].

AbstractThere is an urgent need to measure the impacts of COVID-19 among gay men and other men who have sex with men (MSM). We conducted a cross-sectional survey with a global sample of gay men and other MSM (n  = 2732) from April 16, 2020 to May 4, 2020, through a social networking app. We characterized the economic, mental health, HIV prevention and HIV treatment impacts of COVID-19 and the COVID-19 response, and examined whether sub-groups of our study population are disproportionately impacted by C OVID-19. Many gay men and other MSM not only reported economic and mental health consequences, but also inte...

In a report published Friday, researchers from biopharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences said that COVID-19 patients receiving its antiviral drug remdesivir experienced lower mortality rates and better recovery times compared to those not getting the treatment. The researchers compared 312 people hospitalized for COVID-19 and who received remdesivir to 818 people with similarly severe cases who were treated with standard of care, but did not need mechanical ventilation to breathe. Compared to the people in the latter group, those getting remdesivir showed a 62% lower risk of mortality during the study period. Furthermore, ...
