Subcutaneous immunotherapy with aeroallergens Evaluation of adherence in real life.
Conclusion. Adherence rate in our study was 77%. Economic reasons were the main cause of abandonment in the first year, while the perception of non improvement was the main reason for abandonment in subsequent years. Adequate information on SCIT prescribing and rigorous monitoring of patients during the treatment can improve adherence. PMID: 31789490 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

This article provides highlights of the clinically impactful original studies and reviews published in The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice in 2019 on the subjects of anaphylaxis, asthma, dermatitis, drug allergy, food allergy, immunodeficiency, immunotherapy, rhinitis/sinusitis, and urticaria/angioedema/mast cell disorders. Within each topic, practical aspects of diagnosis and management are emphasized. Treatments discussed include lifestyle modifications, allergen avoidance therapy, positive and negative effects of pharmacologic therapy, and various forms of immunologic and desensitization manageme...

AbstractPurpose of ReviewAllergy immunotherapy has been a mainstay of treatment of inhalant allergy for years. Controversy still exists regarding best methods of allergy testing and immunotherapy. We aim to review the evidence supporting single-, pauci-, and multi-allergen testing and immunotherapy.Recent FindingsThe efficacy of immunotherapy has been well-established. The majority of research regarding allergy immunotherapy has focused on single-allergen treatment for mono- or poly-sensitized patients. There is a small heterogeneous group of studies that evaluate the efficacy of multi-allergen immunotherapy. There is a ne...
We have prepared a case that highlights the relationship between a patient ’s emotional state and the potential for systemic allergic reactions including anaphylaxis in a heretofore stable patient receiving maintenance subcutaneous allergen immunotherapy (SCIT) for treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (ARC) and mild persistent asthma.

Conclusions. Although there was no increase in Api m10 sIgG4 levels after 1 year bVIT, we did not observe relevant differences in other outcomes between patients with predominant Api m1 or Api m10 sensitization. PMID: 31939631 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
ConclusionsPooled data indicate that short- and long-term timothy grass SLIT-tablet is well tolerated in children, regardless of geographic region. AEs were generally local, mild, and transient allergic reactions.
ConclusionsEPIT using HG is a safe method to enable oral administration even in patients with severe milk allergies.
AbstractPurpose of ReviewThe prevalence of food allergy is increasing. At the current time, there are no approved treatments for food allergy. Major limitations of immunotherapy are long treatment periods (months or years), frequent clinic visits, high costs, increased risk of adverse events during treatment, and lack of durability of desensitization. Additionally, it is allergen-specific, and in those allergic to multiple allergens, the length and cost of treatment are further increased. In this review, we summarize recent developments in novel non-allergen-specific treatments for food allergy.Recent FindingsA number of m...
