Molecular biology has emerged as a potential companion to histology for the diagnosis of rejection after heart transplantation. Reverse transcriptase multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (RT-MLPA) is a technique of targeted gene expression analysis suitable for formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) biopsies.
