Why Is the First IVF Cycle the Toughest?

Women are understandably greatly disappointed when their first IVF cycle is unsuccessful. Some of them even abandon the hope of ever having a baby after their first IVF cycle fails. This is truly tragic because the second IVF cycle is often much easier than the first. Firstly, the patient knows exactly what awaits them and is well aware of the fact that IVF treatment does not involve any surgery or pain.  Secondly, because the patient now knows the doctor and the nurses more closely, their comfort level is raised. Finally, what is most important is that patients have more realistic hopes from the second IVF cycle. Usually too many expectations are pinned on the first IVF cycle. Patients believe that because they have put in so much effort, time and money into it, god will surely know that they deserve success. They also overrate the ability of modern IVF technology to achieve success . Because their doctor is very hopeful or because their embryos are of grade A quality, patients feel that there is no way their IVF cycle can fail, since they have done everything perfectly.
