Endoscopic trans gastric assisted surgery for gastric tumors: case report and description of a new surgical technique

ConclusionWe need to perform more cases for future comparative studies with percutaneous endoscopic intragastric surgery [PEIGS] in terms of parameters as pain, inflammation, complications, stenosis, oncological results and cosmesis.

In conclusion, the results improve our understanding on the characteristics of lncRNAs and mRNAs on regulating host immune response against C. perfringens type C infection, which will provide a reference for future research into exploring C. perfringens-related diseases in human. Introduction Clostridium perfringens (C. perfringens) is a Gram-positive anaerobic rod and ranks as the second most common bacteria that causes fulminant, fatal infectious and immune diseases (Scharff, 2012; Grass et al., 2013). These diseases are characterized by fever, pain, gas production, local edema, and severe tissue destruction, the...

In this study, β2∗ nAChR-containing receptors and lynx1 were identified using pull down studies from the mouse brain (Nissen et al., 2018), while ws-lynx1, SLURP-1 and SLURP-2 has been successfully mixed with human brain tissue to pull down multiple nAChR subtypes (Lyukmanova et al., 2016a,b; Thomsen et al., 2016). To support the in vivo interaction studies, a lynx1KO phenotype was ameliorated by crossing these mice into mutant mice null for α7 and β2 nAChR genes (Miwa et al., 2006). These in vivo studies provide an important biological context for the interactions observed within in vitro systems. ...

In this study, we evaluated the effect of auranofin on the radiosensitivity of intestinal epithelial cells. The treatment with a combination of 1 μM auranofin and 5 Gy ionizing radiation showed clear additive effects on caspase 3 cleavage and apoptotic DNA fragmentation in IEC-6 cells, and auranofin administration significantly aggravated the radiation-induced intestinal injury in mice. Auranofin treatment also resulted in the activation of the unfolded protein response and in the inhibition of thioredoxin reductase, which is a key component of the cellular antioxidant system. Pre-treatment with N-acetyl cysteine, a wel...

We reported clinicopathologic features of 4 cases and analysis of 76 cases published in the literature. Clinical symptoms were nonspecific with epigastric pain, weight loss, and melena, as the most common complaints. The prognosis of patients was dismal with high mortality. The tumor commonly occurred in the upper stomach in Chinese patients, whereas, it was more prevalent at the lower stomach in Japanese and other populations. The two malignant components of this rare cancer showed considerable histological heterogeneity with a wide range of differentiation. We propose that carcinosarcomas be divided in two main subtypes:...

This study evaluated pain incidence and characteristics of patients with pain after gastric ESD.MethodsWe retrospectively analyzed a prospectively collected registry of clinical, endoscopic, and pathologic results of patients who underwent ESD for gastric adenoma or cancer from January 2010 to December 2015. A Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) was used to assess pain immediately after, and 2, 12, and 24  h after ESD. The primary outcome was the use of painkillers (VAS score >  4). Analyzed data included age, sex, pathology, specimen and tumor size, procedure time, and tumor location.ResultsOf 1226 patients,...

Authors: Niculescu Z, Ulmeanu V, Ghinea MM, Mocanu L, Niculescu C, Grigorian M Abstract Pyloric duodenal stenosis is usually caused by pyloric, juxtapyloric or duodenal ulcer, or by postbulbar ulcer. Gallbladder cancer (GBC), duodenal diverticula, annular pancreas and superior mesenteric artery syndrome (Wilkie's syndrome) are rare causes of pyloric duodenal stenosis. The case of a 66-year-old female patient is presented. The patient was admitted to hospital presenting anorexia, repeated alimentary vomiting, epigastric pain, and weight loss. Objective clinical examination upon admission: clapotage à jeun is ...

Abstract Currently, several types of amino acids are being produced and used worldwide. Nevertheless, several new functions of amino acids have been recently discovered that could result in other applications. For example, oral stimulation by glutamate triggers the cephalic phase response to prepare for food digestion. Further, the stomach and intestines have specific glutamate-recognizing systems in their epithelial mucosa. Regarding clinical applications, addition of monosodium glutamate to the medicinal diet has been shown to markedly enhance gastric secretion in a vagus-dependent manner. Branched-chain amino a...

ConclusionIPNB/ICPN are rare precursor lesions that can affect the entire biliary epithelium. At pathology, the majority of patients have invasive carcinoma, thus warranting a radical resection. Patients with tumours expressing MUC1 appear to have worse OS and DFSs.
