Analysis of Linear Relations Between Branch Vessel Catheterisation and Procedure Complexity in Fenestrated and Branched Endovascular Aneurysm Repair
Introduction - The use of fenestrated endovascular aneurysm repair (FEVAR) and branched endovascular aneurysm repair (BEVAR) for the treatment of complex abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) is rapidly increasing.1 Successful aneurysm exclusion and prevention of long-term treatment failure need to be balanced against the increased technical complexity and operative risks of more extensive procedures.2 The aim of this study was to analyse the linear relationships between the number of catheterised vessels and various procedural variables for endovascular treatments of complex aortic aneurysms using FEVAR and BEVAR, as compared to conventional endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR).
CONCLUSIONS: Most patients eligible for AAA repair present with baseline erectile and sexual dysfunction. Laparoscopic AAA repair provides no onset of erectile or sexual dysfunction but a global improvement after surgery. Ejaculation troubles are frequent and persistent at 1 year. CONCLUSIONS: EVAR in the elderly can be performed with a high rate of success; however, it is associated with a substantial rate of morbidity and mortality, particularly when patients present with multiple co-morbidities. When performing EVAR in this population group, the risk of rupture must be considered opposed to the life expectancy of these patients and the risk of perioperative morbidity and mortality. DISCUSSION: A literature review of proper screening, referral timeframe, the most common surgical techniques, potential complications, and postoperative surveillance was conducted.
