The Role of the Cardiac Sonographer in Structural Heart Disease Procedures

If you have the opportunity to attend a national cardiology conference, you will find educational content surrounding structural heart disease (SHD) is arguably one of the hottest topics. This was the case at the 30th Annual ASE Scientific Sessions held in Portland, Oregon this past June. The Imaging Essentials track on Saturday was dedicated to SHD topics, including fundamentals of hemodynamics, guideline-based valvular disease assessment, 3-dimensional (3D) technology-guided therapy, and the sonographer's role in interventional SHD procedures.
