Cardiac and extra-cardiac pathologies in patients with acute arterial occlusion

CONCLUSION: Cardiac and extra-cardiac pathologies should be kept in mind in patients with acute arterial occlusion. Thus, detected pathologies could be treated, and the development of additional peripheral emboli could be prevented.RESUMO OBJETIVO: O objetivo do estudo é investigar patologias cardíacas e extracardíacas em pacientes operados por oclusão arterial aguda.

Authors: Lin WC, Tsai JP, Lai YH, Lin YL, Kuo CH, Wang CH, Hsu BG Abstract Osteoprotegerin (OPG) is a potential biomarker of cardiovascular disease complications and severity. Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is associated with an increased risk of death in patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD). Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the relationship between serum OPG levels and PAD by measuring the ankle-brachial index (ABI) of patients on PD. A commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit was used to measure OPG values. Left or right ABI values of

This study sought to derive and validate a systematic method enabling AVC quantification using computed tomography angiography (CTA) in patients with AS.Methods134 consecutive patients with AS who underwent both NCCT and CTA were included in the study and sub-divided into derivation (n=71) and validation cohorts (n=63). On NCCT, AVC was quantified using Agatston method utilizing the software developed for semi-automatic assessment of coronary calcium. On CTA, mean contrast attenuation of aorta (AortaHU) and standard deviation (SD) was measured in the region-of-interest at level of sinotubular junction.ResultsUsing an adjus...

This study applied network pharmacology to identify 94 active components in the six TCM liver-regulating herbs and 182 corresponding targets from several databases and comprehensive literature studies, as well as retrieved AF combined with OSAHS-related targets. Cytoscape software was adopted to construct the component-component target network and component-putative target-AF combined with OSAHS target network. Then, we obtained 38 putative therapeutic targets against AF combined with OSAHS. After the production of a putative therapeutic target interaction network, topological analysis was adopted to determine the core tar...

In this study, we assessed the impact of interacting medication and pharmacogenetic variation to better explain apixaban concentration differences among 358 Caucasian AF patients. Genotyping (ABCG2,ABCB1,CYP3A4*22,CYP3A5*3) was performed by TaqMan assays, and apixaban quantified by mass spectrometry. The typical patient was on average 77.2  years old, 85.5 kg, and had a serum creatinine of 103.1 µmol/L. Concomitant amiodarone, an antiarrhythmic agent and moderate CYP3A/ABCB1 inhibitor, the impaired-function variantABCG2 c.421C  >  A, and sex predicted higher apixaban concentrations whe...
