The transcriptional landscape and expression of novel small non-coding RNAs (sRNAs) were investigated during the biofilm formation of S. Enteritidis exposed to meat thawing loss broth (MTLB) in this study. The genes of csgB, adrA and fimH were differentially expressed. Notably, a t...

ConclusionsIt is of great importance to continue monitoring the disease since it appears to be endemic throughout Spain. There is a need for a common strategy on monitoring and reporting, which would facilitate a more accurate picture on the MSF epidemiological scenario. Entomological information will be of added value.

We report the longitudinal profile of ILTV genome copies (GC) in poultry house dust collected on settle plates following vaccination of 8 flocks of commercial meat chickens on four farms. ILTV GC was enumerated using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). There was considerable variation between flocks in the levels of ILTV GC detected post vaccination and this variation was significantly associated with vaccine take measured in individual birds in a companion study. There was no effect of sampling location on ILTV GC in dust but the amount of dust collected was greater in locations closer the exhaust fan...

We report a candidate lead (compound #5: ((10R)-10-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-11,12,14,16-tetraazatetracyclo[7.7.0.02,7.011,15] hexadeca-1(16), 2(7),3,5,8,12,14-heptaen-8-ol)) with high drug-likeness score, promising lead-likeness behaviour and high median lethal dose. The candidate lead compound #5 engages in hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions with VP40 active site residues. Thus, the lead compound #5 is recommended for further in vitro and in vivo validations for further consideration. PMID: 31787811 [PubMed]

An expression plasmid pP43-6LFBII-GFP, in which reporter GFP cDNA was fused downstream of lactoferricin cDNA driven by an endogenous constitutive P43 promoter was electroporated into B. subtilis, followed by regeneration a...

AbstractCanine distemper virus (CDV) causes a highly contagious disease in a wide range of carnivores. The hemagglutinin (H) protein of viruses shows the highest variability and plays an important role in modulation of viral antigenicity, virulence, and receptor recognition. Since 2012, canine distemper (CD) outbreaks in fur-bearing animals (minks, foxes, raccoon dogs) caused by CDV variants with I542N and Y549H substitutions in the H protein have been frequently reported in China. To characterize the molecular evolutionary dynamics and epidemiological dynamics of CDV, 235 H gene sequences of CDV wild-type strains collecte...

(Natural News) It is getting hard to keep track of all the recalls and outbreaks associated with foodborne illness lately. In the last month, apples, vegetable products, meat, and fish have all been recalled for possible Listeria contamination. In the same time frame, a Salmonella outbreak that has been linked to ground beef has been making the rounds, and an E. coli outbreak has been linked with packaged salad...
