CONCLUSION: In these DICER1-carrier females, DICER1-related gynecological tumors occurred during childhood or adolescence in some after which women generally experienced healthy reproductive lives. Individual education and screening for these tumors is warranted. The high rate of DICER1-related multinodular goiter resulting in pre- and post-pregnancy thyroidectomy underscores the importance of thyroid monitoring during pregnancy to ensure maternal and fetal wellbeing. Abstract Selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) are synthetic non-steroidal agents which have variable estrogen agonist and antagonist activities in different target tissues. Tamoxifen is an anti-estrogen in the breast used for treatment and prevention of breast cancer, with estrogen agonist activity in the uterus. Raloxifene prevents and treats osteoporosis and prevents breast cancer, and can be safely combined with vaginal but not systemic estrogen. The tissue selective estrogen complex combines conjugated equine estrogens (CEE) with the SERM bazedoxifene (BZA). The five Selective Estrogen Menopause and ...

Cancer treatment — and cancer itself — can threaten fertility. This is a tremendously important survivorship issue for many people. As an oncologist, I’m often asked questions about preserving fertility during cancer treatment. If this issue affects you, here is an overview of key options. When should you talk to your cancer team about fertility? Future children may not be foremost on your mind when you are diagnosed with cancer. Soon afterward, though, it’s worth talking to your doctor about fertility issues, if this is important to you now or might one day become important. Your doctor can explain...

Abstract BACKGROUND: The effect of chemotherapy exposure (CE) on ovarian function in young women with ovarian neoplasms undergoing fertility-sparing treatment (FST) remains unclear. We investigated whether CE is correlated with the outcomes (1) during-treatment and (2) post-treatment amenorrhea, (3) conception rate, (4) pregnancy outcome, and (5) spontaneous menopausal age. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Eligibility criteria were patients with a diagnosis of epithelial (EOC) or nonepithelial (no-EOC) invasive ovarian neoplasm, premenopausal age, undergoing FST ± CE, histopathology confirmation, and adequate...

Conclusions Except for the risk of premature ovarian failure, a rare adverse effect of combined treatments, both single-agent and multiagent chemotherapy can be safely administered to patients with a desire for childbearing. High-risk patients have worse reproductive outcomes because they undergo hysterectomy more frequently than low-risk patients.

CONCLUSIONS: High disease activity and Cyclophosphamide therapy are the two most important factors causing amenorrhea in SLE patients. Cyclophosphamide therapy when initiated in patients older than 30 years can lead to irreversible amenorrhea. Successful pregnancy is possible even in lupus nephritis patients if disease is well controlled at the time of conception. PMID: 28405983 [PubMed - in process]

Conclusion: About 50% of the pts considered not to have received adequate information on fertility and other gynaecological consequences of anti cancer treatment. This study shows how important gynaecologic considerations are for young breast cancer patients. Information about impact of treatment, fertility preservation techniques and symptoms of premature ovarian failure should be part of the treatment of these patients. Specific time should be devoted during the different consultations before, during and after treatments.Citation Format: Mailliez A, Bregegere S, Bonneterre J. CONCLUSIONS: The risk of high frequency headache is increased in women during the perimenopause compared to premenopause in the fully adjusted model. The fact that the increased risk of high frequency headache was not statistically significant for menopause in the fully adjusted models suggests that different mechanisms might account for the increased risk for this stage of the menopausal transition. Recognition of the increased risk of high frequency headache during the menopausal transition suggests a need for optimized preventive treatment of migraine during this time of women's life. Conclusions Based on these high rates of childbirth following BEACOPP chemotherapy, we have concluded that intensified chemotherapy is not a definite predictor of reduced fertility in young HL patients.
