We report the case of a 53-year-old woman affected by metastatic anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-rearranged non-small cell lung cancer who received ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitors, from January 2017. The patient had a complete response of choroidal metastasis after therapy with ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitors. She recovered a complete visus and actually she still continue therapy with alectinib. The patient had a complete recovery of visus in addiction to a long response on treatment.

CONCLUSIONS: MiR-507 was noticeably downregulated in NSCLC and correlated with poor prognosis of NSCLC patients. MiR-507 represses the invasion and proliferation of NSCLC via targeting ZEB2. This study indicated that miR-507 might serve as a potential therapeutic target for NSCLC. PMID: 31799665 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSIONS: DGCR5 enhances NSCLC cell migration and invasion via targeting miR-218-5p, indicating that DGCR5 may be a potential therapeutic target in NSCLC. PMID: 31799664 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSIONS: In all the instances, statistical analysis showed that mean mSWAT score before/after SN diagnosis had a significantly difference (p value=0.0037) suggesting that patients with a SN may have a worse clinical outcome. By secreting immunosuppressive cytokines or recruiting immunosuppressive cells, a sort of mutual help between the two neoplasms may be prompted. Our data suggest that SN development in MF patients may be regarded as a worse prognostic marker. PMID: 31804054 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Eight novel Schiff bases derived from benzil dihydrazone (BDH) or benzil monohydrazone (BMH) and four fused-ring carbonyl compounds (3-formylindole, FI; 3-acetylindole, AI; 3-formyl-1-methylindole, MFI; 1-formylnaphthalene, FN) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, ESI – QTOF – MS, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, as well as single-crystal X-ray diffraction. They are (1Z,2Z)-1,2-bis{(E)-[(1H-indol-3-yl)methylidene]hydrazinylidene}-1,2-diphenylethane (BDHFI), C32H24N6, (1Z,2Z)-1,2-bis{(E)-[1-(1H-indol-3-yl)ethylidene]hydrazinylidene}-1,2-diphenylethane (BDHAI), C34H28N6, (1Z,2Z)-1,2-bis{(E)-[(1-m...

Authors: Liu X, Liu X, Li J, Ren F Abstract Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the main histologic form of lung cancer that affects human health, but biomarkers for therapeutic diagnosis and prognosis of the disease are currently lacking. The gene expression profile GSE18842 was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database in this prospective study, which consisted of 46 tumors and 45 controls. After screening differentially expressed genes (DEGs), we conducted functional enrichment analysis and KEGG analysis with upregulated differentially expressed genes (uDEGs) and downregulated differentially express...

AbstractWith the advancement of imaging technology, systemic disease control rate and survival rate, the morbidity of brain metastases (BMs) from non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has been riding on a steady upward trend (40%), but management of BMs from NSCLC remains obscure. Systemic therapy is anticipated to offer novel therapeutic avenues in the management of NSCLC BMs, and radiotherapy (RT) and immunotherapy have their own advantages. Recently, it was confirmed that immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and RT could mutually promote the efficacy in the treatment of BMs from NSCLC. In this paper, we provide a review on ...

Background To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to examine the relationship of rest-activity rhythm with survival in older adults with lung cancer and to consider variations in rest-activity rhythm over time. Objective The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between rest-activity rhythm variations and survival in 33 older adults with lung cancer by considering rest-activity rhythm as a time-dependent covariate over time. Methods In this prospective study with 5 repeated measurements, patients' rest-activity rhythm over 3 days was measured using actigraphy. The rest-activity rhythm was...
