Complementary and alternative medicine and atopic dermatitis in children

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is not recommended as standard therapy by the AD guidelines [1,2]. Although the standard therapy has been already established, CAM is still commonly being used because patients with AD or their caregivers are somewhat anxious about the standard therapies, particularly the side effects of TCS and the chronic clinical course with repeated AD remission and relapse [3,4]. The problems of CAM therapy for children with AD have not been fully understood as CAM therapy is usually offered apart from medical care providers.
