Is there a link between venous and arterial thrombosis? A reappraisal

In conclusion, recent evidence provides compelling evidence in support of the link between venous and arterial thrombosis. Future studies are needed to clarify the nature of this association, to assess its extent, and to evaluate its implications for clinical practice.

Shanura Fernando, BoMi Ryu, Ginnae Ahn, In-Kyu Yeo, You-Jin JeonAbstractBackgroundMetabolic syndrome (MS) defines a group of severe comorbidities, including insulin resistance, abnormal fat accumulation, and high blood pressure that lead to obesity, diabetes, and heart diseases. MS has received a growing concern due to its rising prevalence in many countries. The consumption of high-calorie food, sedentary lifestyle habits, genetic factors, and stress conditions aggravate risk factors for developing metabolic syn...

Early-stage CAD can progress if undiagnosed and left untreated, leading to myocardial infarction (MI) that may induce irreversible heart muscle damage, resulting in heart chamber remodeling and eventual congestive heart failure (CHF). Electrocardiog...

CONCLUSIONS: CircRNA 010567 siRNA can improve the cardiac function, alleviate the MF, and inhibit the myocardial apoptosis, thereby further suppressing MI-induced MF, whose mechanism may be related to the inhibition on the TGF-β1 signaling pathway. PMID: 31957851 [PubMed - in process]

We report a case in which diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI) demonstrated renal artery stenosis-related renal ischemia and the therapeutic efficacy of revascularization. The patient was a 73-year-old man, who underwent descending thoracic aortic replacement due to DeBakey IIIb chronic aortic dissection, and who showed progressive renal dysfunction due to right renal artery stenosis caused by false lumen thrombosis. DWI demonstrated a decreased apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) in the right kidney, indicating renal ischemia. Angioplasty with stenting restored renal perfusion and improved the renal functi...

This study sought to investigate what could be learned from how these men have fared. The men were born in 1925-1928 and similar health-related data from questionnaires, physical examination, and blood samples are available for all surveys. Survival curves over various variable strata were applied to evaluate the impact of individual risk factors and combinations of risk factors on all-cause deaths. At the end of 2018, 118 (16.0%) of the men had reached 90 years of age. Smoking in 1974 was the strongest single risk factor associated with survival, with observed percentages of men reaching 90 years being 26.3, 25.7, ...
