Differences in hospital course in community acquired pneumonia (CAP) according to antibiotic treatment
Conclusions: 1. The empirical antibiotic treatment most used was levofloxacin in monotherapy. 2. Patients treated with β-lactams had more comorbidities, nursing home residence and more severity according to PSI. 3. In-hospital evolution was worse in patients treated with β-lactams. They needed more ICU admission, IMV, had more complications and longer in-hospital stay. 4. Mortality rate was low in both groups but significantly higher in patients who received β-lactams.
