Accuracy of pleural fluid c-reactive protein in differentiating between tuberculous and malignant pleural effusions: a meta-analysis
Conclusion: p-CRP determination is a relatively accurate test for discriminating TPE from MPE. The samples included in this study were only those with a definitive diagnosis. Further studies evaluate whether p-CRP has utility for effusions which are non-diagnostic for the gold-standard diagnostic tests.
