Postoperative morbidity and mortality after pneumonectomy (PE) in pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) patients: a 5-year experience

Conclusions: The overall 90-day mortality after PE in TB patients was 2.4%. The postoperative TMM were connected with age, comorbid COPD, low functional level, blood flow in the removing lung.

Jie, S.U.N. Xuan, X.U. BiaoAbstract and KeywordsHypertension (HT) is the most common public-health challenge and shows a high incidence around the world. Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of mortality and morbidity among the elderly (age> 65 years) in the United States. Now, there is widespread acceptance of the causal link between HT and acute myocardial infarction (MI). This is the first data-mining study to id...

The primary outcome was time to tracheostomy with early tracheostomy (ET) or late tracheotomy (LT) defined as 3–7 or ≥ 10 days post-intubation, respectively. Sec...

The objective of this study was to evaluate the long-term clinical outcomes and the incidence of permanent pacemaker implantation after catheter ablation in patients with of atrial fibrillation (AF) and sinus node dysfunction (SND). METHODS: Among 3,068 total consecutive patients who underwent AF catheter ablation (AFCA), this study included 222 (9.5%; men 53.2%, 63.7±9.2 years of age, 81.5% paroxysmal AF) with underlying SND and a regular rhythm follow-up. We analyzed the rhythm outcomes, changes in the mean heart rate or heart rate variability, and permanent pacemaker implantation rate. RESULTS: During 47....

Long-acting combinations of β2 agonists and anticholinergics (LABA-LAMA) are recommended in advanced stages when monotherapy has not generated the desired effects. Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR) is an effective non-pharmacological strategy. The aim of this stu...

Authors: Chen J, Xu S, Zhou W, Wu L, Wang L, Li W Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of exendin-4 (Ex-4) on ventricular arrhythmias and calcium sparks-mediated calcium leak in a myocardial infarction-heart failure model. We studied the influence of exendin-4 on ventricular arrhythmogenesis in a rat myocardial infarction-heart failure model. In vivo arrhythmia studies (electrocardiogram [ECG] telemetry studies), ex vivo arrhythmia studies calcium sparks tests, and analysis of total and phosphorylated ryanodine receptor (RyR) 2 and CaMK-II were carried out in sham group, myocardial infarction...

We report the case of a 33-year-old woman with no history of coronary risk factors or chest pain who experienced intermittent chest pain at rest for several minutes from 2 PM. At 8 AM the next day, chest pain recurred and persisted for about 1 hour. She was transported to our hospital by ambulance, where electrocardiogram showed ST-elevation in the precordial leads, and blood tests showed elevation of cardiac markers. She was diagnosed with ST-elevation myocardial infarction. Because she was a young woman without any risk factors, coronary spastic angina was suspected. Coronary angiography without intracoronary nitrate adm...
