A comparison of upper extremity functional exercise capacity and activities of daily living in patients with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Conclusion: Dyspnea perception in leisure activity increases COPD patients compared to asthmatics. The arm exercise capacity is preserved in asthmatics compared to COPD patients, and strongly correlated with peripheral muscle strength. As peripheral muscle strength decreases, the negative effect of dyspnea on ADL increases in asthmatics.
