Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis due to heterozygous mutation in OAS1: Treatment of a novel disease with whole lung lavages and stem cell transplantation
Conclusion: WLL in patients with pulmonary alveolar proteinosis can stabilize patients until a definitive diagnosis can be made. Bone marrow transplantation may cure PAP due to a mutation in the OAS1 gene.
