ERCP biliary cannulation difficulty as a function of papillary subtypes: a tale of shapes and Shar-Pei dogs

Biliary cannulation is the beating heart of ERCP. The vast majority of ERCP procedures involve this maneuver, and (with rare exceptions) a failure on the part of the endoscopist to achieve this milestone equates to the failure of the entire procedure.
