Appropriateness of inpatient stress testing: Implications for development of clinical decision support mechanisms and future criteria

ConclusionIn preparing for the mandate, it will be important for future CDSM to obtain information on the patient ’s ability to exercise and for future AUC to include additional indications that are not currently addressed.

Authors: Xu J, Wang X, Xiao H, Xu J Abstract BACKGROUND To determine the difference in size-specific dose estimates (SSDEs), separately based on effective diameter (deff) and water equivalent diameter (dw) of the central slice of the scan range in computed tomography coronary angiography (CTCA). MATERIAL AND METHODS There were 134 patients who underwent CTCA examination, were electronically retrieved. SSDEs (SSDEdeff and SSDEdw) were calculated using 2 approaches: deff and dw. The median SSDEs and mean absolute relative difference of SSDEs were calculated. Linear regression model was used to assess the absolute rel...

Objective The aim of this study was to compare the risk of hypersensitivity reactions to iopromide after intra-arterial (IA) administration and intravenous (IV) administration. Materials and Methods Four observational studies were pooled. Almost half of the study population (48.1%) was from Europe, and one quarter each from China (27.6%) and other Asia countries (24.1%). All patients received iopromide either intra-arterially or intravenously for angiographic procedures (mostly cardio-angiography) or contrast-enhanced computed tomography. A nested case-control analysis, including a multivariable logistic regression mo...

Objectives The aim of this study was to compare image quality, conspicuity, and endoleak detection between single-energy low-kV images (SEIs) and dual-energy low-keV virtual monoenergetic images (VMIs+) in computed tomography angiography of the aorta after endovascular repair. Materials and Methods An abdominal aortic aneurysm phantom simulating 36 endoleaks (2 densities; diameters: 2, 4, and 6 mm) in a medium- and large-sized patient was used. Each size was scanned using single-energy at 80 kVp (A) and 100 kVp (B), and dual-energy at 80/Sn150kVp for the medium (C) and 90/Sn150kVp for the large size (D). VMIs+ at 40 k...

CONCLUSIONS: Computed tomography angiography has proven to be a useful tool in coronary artery fistulas detection and morphological assessment. Proposed classification may simplify the predictions whether fistula has a significant influence on cardiac function, however further studies are needed. ConclusionsThe SIEA flap provides a reasonable option for autologous breast reconstruction with the great advantage of minimal donor-site morbidity. Nevertheless, its use should be preserved to selected cases with favorable anatomy. We therefore recommend proper patient selection based on preoperative computed tomography angiography, intraoperative clinical evaluation and history of hypercoagulable state.Level of Evidence IVThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. ConclusionBaseline cut off thrombus appearance predicts a  higher number of thrombectomy maneuvers. In day to day practice this may prepare the neurointerventionalist for a more challenging endovascular procedure ahead. Stroke etiology, clinical outcomes and thrombus-specific characteristics did not show any associations with the thrombus appearance.

Abstract OBJECTIVE: Netrin-1 has been shown to play a role in the initiation of atherosclerosis in mice models. However, little is known about the role of Netrin-1 in humans. We set out to study whether Netrin-1 is associated with different stages of atherosclerosis. Approach and Results: Plasma Netrin-1 levels were measured in different patient cohorts: (1) 22 patients with high cardiovascular risk who underwent arterial wall inflammation assessment using positron-emission tomography / computed tomography, (2) 168 patients with a positive family history of premature atherosclerosis in whom coronary artery calcium...

Computed tomography angiography derived global longitudinal strain (CTA-GLS) has been shown to be feasible, however its prognostic value remains unclear in patients with severe aortic stenosis undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). We evaluated the association of baseline CTA-GLS with outcomes including all-cause mortality and composite endpoint of death and heart failure hospitalization in 223 patients treated with TAVR. Patients with normal LVEF but reduced CTA-GLS had similar event rate to those with impaired LVEF, and higher than those with normal LVEF and preserved CTA-GLS. Baseline CTA-GLS assessme...

We aimed to compare semiquantitative coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) risk scores – which score presence, extent, composition, stenosis and/or location of coronary artery disease (CAD) – and their prognostic value between patients with and without diabetes mellitus (DM). Risk scores derived from general chest-pain populations are often challenging to apply in DM patients, bec ause of numerous confounders.
