In vivo measurement of cytoplasmic organelle water fraction using diffusion-weighted imaging: Application in the malignant grading and differential diagnosis of gliomas

This study aims to investigate whether COWF maps are effective in evaluating the malignant degree of gliomas and distinguishing primary central nervous system lymphomas (PCNSL) from gliomas. We performed this retrospective study based on our prospectively collected data. All patients underwent preoperative multi-b-value DWI. Parametric maps were derived from multi-b-value DWI maps using the modified tri-exponential model. Receiver operating characteristic analyses were used to assess the diagnostic accuracy of the parameter maps. Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated to investigate the correlations between the parameters and the Ki-67 proliferation index. A total of 66 patients were enrolled, including 16 low-grade gliomas (LGG), 45 high-grade gliomas (HGG), and 5 PCNSL.
